Koude is een emotie
Schotland – 29 januari t/m 3 februari 2008 – Waarom moeten we toch altijd zo nodig in het stormseizoen naar de Cairngorms? Ook in 2008 zijn we vrijwel letterlijk van de berg geblazen, onze plannen (en onze tent) geheel in duigen… Gelukkig hangt onze groep van flexibiliteit aan elkaar, zodat we elke tegenslag hebben kunnen ombouwen in wederom een fantastische winterhike. Ditmaal zonder Munro’s te hebben beklommen, al denk ik dat er helemaal niemand een Munro heeft beklommen gedurende deze onstuimige dagen. Continue reading
The winds have been strong from the South-East and summit temperatures have remained very cold. Snow showers and heavy drifting have led to deep accumulations of soft slab developing on West through North to North-East aspects above 700 metres. On a North-West aspect at 1050 metres tests showed a very weakly bonded snowpack and spontaneous shooting cracks were also noted. The avalanche hazard is High (Category 4).
